The club has become involved in a new dog sport, Barn Hunt.
We passed our requirements and are considered a Barn Hunt club with the Barn Hunt Association.

Finally we are getting a break in the winter weather and hopefully will start the outdoor practices in May.  There will be two rings used.  The smaller ring will be for newer participants doing Instinct and Novice runs with instruction/assistance.  The larger ring will be for more advanced participants who want to run the Open, Advanced and Masters level and will be self directed.

Starting on November 3 and running every other week through the winter, we will be at the Petsaver Store in Webster from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM.  We will be running mostly Novice level.  This will be without hay or straw bales and will give people an opportunity to be active with their dog throughout the winter.  More information will be posted on the Roseland Barn Hunt facebook page.  Cost will be $5.00 per dog.  The number of runs will depend on how many come to the practice session.  The focus will be on learning about Barn Hunt, the Instinct and Novice level, but there will be several rats, so those at the higher levels can practice finding more than one rat.

Here are pictures of the four rats who were doing the GVKC Barn Hunt Practices in 2017.  Two of them developed mammary tumors and crossed the rat rainbow bridge early in 2017.  But we acquired more rats and our total to date is 9 females.
